In this exclusive interview, we delve into Joshua's journey—from their early inspirations to their creative process and the lessons learned along the way. Join us as we explore the world through his eyes and uncover what it truly means to capture moments that last a lifetime.

Here are some of his answers when I interviewed him:

1. I started photography in high school using a 35mm black and white film camera. I like to focus on the “different”. Creating interesting compositions that make the viewer think a little bit. I like to find different angles and compositions.

2. I started off doing family portraits and maternity photos, moved into more creative concepts with fashion models and then eventually transitioned into weddings. I’ve been published internationally numerous times in too many magazines to remember. I competed in a photo challenge on YouTube called “photo boxers” unfortunately I did not win.

 3. I grew up naturally gravitating towards the arts, drawing and cartooning a great deal in my younger days, even creation short stories and music for a while, photography was really just a natural progression for me.

4. Honestly, no. Not to start anyway. Once I found my own style, I started following people like Sam Hurd and Taylor Jackson. Pulling inspiration from their work as needed.

5. I like the obscure. If I can find rusty metal surrounded by flowers, I’ll place my models there. I’ve don’t shoots in trash and suits on the beach. If it looks like it doesn’t belong, I’m setting it up.

6. The entire industry. It has a tendency to undercut itself making it impossible to find your worth. Everyone knows there’s always someone starting out, willing to “do it for free” and so it’s really hard to become successful in the business.

7. I’m currently shooting with a pair of Nikon z5’s. I use a mix of 24mm, 85mm and 105mm. I spot exclusively using natural light. I live by the K.I.S.S concept (Keep It Simple, Stupid)

8. I have not. Yet…

9. Get ready for an absolute grind filled with ups and downs. Be prepared to make mistakes and learn from them. Be prepared for upsets and let downs. Push through that grind and find your style. Keep your portfolio true to a single genre if possible. And don’t be afraid to take risks.

10. As mentioned before “keep it simple, stupid” or k.i.s.s.

Basically, keep your gear simple, plan a shoot around a single focal length, keep your backgrounds simple to minimize distractions from your subject.
