Guide to The process of a photoshoot

Many people can be overwhelmed with decisions to make leading up to the photoshoot date. I just wanted to offer this guide that lists various aspects of the photography process, from preparation to after the shoot.

Planning and Preparation

1. Wardrobe Guides:

  - Tips on what to wear for different types of photography:

Choosing the right outfit for a portrait photoshoot can significantly impact the overall look and feel of your images. Here are some tips to help you decide what to wear:

- Consider the Location

  - Match Your Outfit to the Setting: If you're shooting outdoors in a natural environment, consider earth tones or floral patterns.

  - Consult Your Photographer

-Dress for the Season

-Choose flattering colors. Avoid Bright Whites and Dark Blacks: Bright white can reflect light and create glare, while black can lose detail. Instead, opt for off-whites, creams, or charcoal.

-Accessorize Wisely: Keep it Simple. A few well-chosen accessories can enhance your outfit, but don’t go overboard. Think statement pieces that draw attention without overwhelming the look.

  2. Location Ideas:

  - A list of recommended locations for shoots: Researching location ideas for a shoot is always a huge task because you want the perfect setting for the photoshoot you are planning.

A popular outdoor location spot in Hamilton is at the Dundurn castle. It is ideal for many photo sessions.

A few studios I like to work at: Enchanted studio and The studio on Gage. These studios are located in Hamilton/Binbrook area. I always want to make sure the location is safe, has a washroom, and parking nearby.

  - Information about permits or rules for certain locations: There are always rules for setting up a photoshoot at certain locations. Some locations require a permit and fees in order to take photos. Whenever I am researching a location, I try to understand the rules and policies for photographers at a location before I agree to shoot there. If you are not aware of certain rules, you can be fined.
